Family Holiday 2008 – What I Bought?

Curious to know what I bought during the holiday? Here is the list..

A bag, bought at Pasar Payang for RM20. I love it…

And of course, keropok ikan from Kelantan. I didn’t buy this, gifts from my sister-in-law.

Also from my sister-in-law, mango or they called it here as pauh. In Johor, we called it mempelam, but remember pals, never said mempelam in Kelantan dialect.. Hehehe..

Keropok sira, this is very nice. Bought it from Pasar Payang, RM10 for 5 packs.

Serunding from Kelantan. I bought two type of serunding, beef and fish. If I can still remember, the fish serunding sells at RM11 for 500 gram and the beef serunding is RM18 for 500 gram.

A dress for me to wear loosely at home. It’s cost me about RM25.

I don’t know why I bought this shoes, but it looks cute and very comfortable when wearing. Bought it from Wakaf Che Yeh for RM15.

Some minyak urut. 2 sets for RM20 plus free a bottle of minyak angin. Gave one set to my father-in-law.

A blouse bought at Wakaf Che Yeh for my little sister. I think it cost  RM35.

I really like this sarong batik because it has gold line on it. RM15 per piece.

My husband bought this as preparation for his Turkmenistan trip. RM100 only.

Of course, I did bought some tudung at Pasar Payang. This one is RM65 per piece, RM100 for two.

And batik too.. RM80 per piece. The dark one is for my mother, while the peach colour I don’t know yet whom will get.. Both from Pasar payang..

And this one is RM150 per piece.. I don’t know why it’s different but the seller mention something about the cloth quality.. Kain no 1?!

Couple red terengganu T-shirt for me and my husband.. RM25 + RM18 = RM40.. hehehe..

More tudung from Pasar Payang.. This one cost RM35 per piece.

A set of baju batik for my husband that paired of with batik for me.. RM150 each..

A momento from Taman tamadun Islam (RM35)..

Lastly, some postcards to add to my collection..

All in all we spent almost RM3000 for this holiday and travelled for 2000 km…

P.S.: Wonder where is our next year destination?!

Family Holiday 2008 – Day 5 Time To Go Home!

Finally, it’s 9 December and we must go home.. We started our journey at about 1.00 p.m. after lunch at Mamak Spicy Restaurant. We reached Kuala Terengganu at 5.00 p.m. and stopped again at Pasar Payang to buy some more things that I thought I wanted to buy at Pasar Siti Khadijah – wrong timing, Pasar Siti Khadijah closed for business due to Hari Raya.

We had dinner somewhere around bulatan ladang, and headed back to Johor around 6.30 p.m.

Family Holiday 2008 – Day 4 Part 2

Later that night we went to jalan-jalan and shopping-shopping at Wakaf Che Yeh.

No, the last picture wasn’t things for sale, but I guess the seller was to tired and exhausted that he needs a sleep no matter what.. heehhe.. Luckily, he didn’t noticed that I’ve took his picture..

Family Holiday 2008 – Day 4 Korban

Today is Raya Haji or also known as Raya Korban. Here is a video of slaughtering process..

And here some other photos taken on the same day..

Family Holiday 2008 – Day 3 Part 2

From Pasar Payang, we went to Taman Tamadun Islam. This is a place where you must visit if you are in Kuala Terengganu. It has many miniatures of Islamic Building around the world. For more info, visit their website (click here to visit them!). On the way there, we also stopped at Losong to buy the famous keropok lekor.

Then we ate at the food court in that area, Medan Selera Wan Man. I think it’s a good concept.. Buffet style in a very stylish environment. You pay what you take only.. You can opt to eat inside the cafe with the aircond or stay outside with the strong blowing breeze from the river.. Nice view too..

I ate nasi beriayani Arab and it cost about RM10 per person..

After that we started to drive around and check out the view. We didn’t go inside the Taman Tamadun Islam as we are hurrying to Kota Bahru – maybe next time..

Then at 4 o’clock we continued our journey to Kota Bahru..

At 6.00 p.m. we reached Jerteh. If I am not mistaken, the following beautiful mosque is in Jerteh.

We reached Kota Bahru at 7.30 and started to find our way to the New Pacific Hotel. OMNIA came together with Google Maps, so it quite helpful. But of course you have to make sure that you subscribe the 3G or GPRS.. The hotel room is at RM184++ per night.

After refreshing ourselves, we went to my sister-in-law’s house at Jalan Telipot. Her neighbour is Tengku Mahkota.. Hehehe.. When I told my nephew that his autie is neighbouring with Tengku Mahkota, my nephew said “Tengku Mahkota Johor?”.. OMG, what the hell is Tengku Mahkota Johor doing in Kelantan?! Hehehehe..

Later that night, my sister-in-law bring me to the serunding shop and check out the Wakaf Che Yeh..

Family Holiday 2008 – Day 3

7th December 2008

My husband love nasi dagang terengganu, so he make sure that he gets it today.. We went to Cendering for breakfast – nasi dagang Terengganu. If you are wondering what’s the difference between nasi dagang Terengganu and Kelantan, nasi dagang Terengganu more like nasi minyak. And nasi dagang Kelantan are dark in colour.

I don’t remember what’s the shop’s name, but it is popular. We need to wait for table.. So full lah..

Then wait again for the rice to be served..

After that, we went back to the hotel to packed up our things and checked out at 11.30 a.m.

Then, we drive through the China Town – I heard it’s gazetted as the world heritage.. Just curious, we have so many China Town in Malaysia that were gazetted as world heritage, where is Malay Kampung?

And finally, time for shopping at Pasar Payang… Look at some of the things you can find here:

Next to Pasar Payang, they just opened Bazar Warisan. My guess is its the modern (and expensive) concept of Pasar Payang..

Then we went to riverside for cendol and rojak buah..

To be continued…

Family Holiday 2008 – Day 2

6th December 2008

Rain poured heavily since 1.00 a.m. And since our room are just right under the roof, we can hear the sound of rain falling on the roof. Oh yes, we don’t have windows in our room.. Hehehe..

So, each time I woke up and heard the rain I slept again.. I love the sound of rain falling on the roof. There were many times when I would stay in the car at night, just to heard the rain sound.

Finally, I can’t take it anymore.. Raining or not, we need to continue our journey or else we won’t reach our next destination in time..

We checked our from the hotel at 10.30 am and ate breakfast at the restaurant next to the hotel..

After breakfast we started our journey at abour 12.30p.m. – heading to Kuala Terengganu.. All the way, it was raining heavily..

We found some places that was flooded.. Poor them..

We reached Dungun at 3.00 p.m. and stopped for lunch. We ate nasi kukus ayam berempah.. I think it is famous now in Pahang & Terengganu because all the way from Rompin till Dungun we saw lots of restaurants promoting Nasi Kukus..

Well, maybe I didn’t know which restaurant offers the best nasi kukus. But what I’ve ate at that particular restaurant in Dungun, I must say this: Nothing remarkable about nasi kukus. It just plain steamed rice served with spicy fried chicken, some cucumber, papaddam, sambal and kuah kari.. That’s all..

Sorry, no pictures because there’s nothing special about it..

At 4.00 p.m. we continued our journey.. Not only the rain was pouring heavily, the traffic was bad too.. Jammed, all the way from Dungun to Rantau Panjang.. And I thought it was because of flood..

No, the jammed wasn’t caused by flood but a small road repair (about 1 feet length) that forced all cars to slow down.. Furthermore, there were some stupid ignorant drivers who made another lane on the sidetable and cut the queue.

Finally, we reached Kuala Terengganu at 6.00 p.m. Now, that’s a real experience. 6 hours driving from Kemaman to Kuala Terengganu. 2 hours from Dungun to Rantau Panjang.. Crazy huh!

We went to a friend’s house first before checked in ourself at Seri Malaysia Hotel. We were so tired and hungry too..

And that night, we drive around Kuala Terengganu..

Family Holiday 2008 – East Coast Peninsular Malaysia

5th December – Ready to set out the journey at 12.00 noon…

We reached Rompin, Pahang at about 3.30 p.m and stopped at Gerai Leban Condong for lunch. They sell fresh udang galah here.. Some rice, a fried fish, some ulam and 5 udang galah – it cost about RM10!

Then we continued our journey.. But then we saw interesting view – the beach.. We stopped for pictures at Kampung Nelayan Nenasi, just a few kilometer from Gerai Leban Condong…

At 6.30 p.m. we reach Cherating beach…

We stayed at Kemaman that night at Marjan Hotel. There’s nothing interesting in Kemaman at night, so we went to Cherating for dinner and happy hour.. Hehehe.. Dinner at Kafe Matahari then karaoke at Little Bali..

WEEK 4 Day 28

It’s time to check my progress again..

Current weight: 220 pounds

Original weight: 225 pounds

Last night, I tried not to eat dinner. Instead took supreme diet only. By 10, I was so hungry that my stomach hurt. Felt like to vomit and macam nak pengsan. What’s wrong? The supreme diet gave 200++ kcal..

The doctor suggest me to go for laparoscopic ovarian diathermy. I don’t know, I am quite scare because it involved surgery, though a minor one – according to the doctor. Anybody here have gone through it? Was it a success?

I planned to go to my friend’s wedding today at BBU. I really wanted to go because she is an old friend of mine. I didn’t meet her since form 4. I left SIGS in form 4 and she remained there. I am sure that I’ll get to meet other band girls there.. Miss them.. “Rain or shine the band still stand”.. So many memory that you can’t forget, especially the ragging part.. huhu..

I was sure that her wedding is Sunday. Last night, just before I wrapped her gift, I took the wedding card to check her husband’s name. OMG! The wedding was today (mean yesterday!).. I missed it!

My husband said never mind, we can always go to her home today.. Opppss.. how are we going to her house because the wedding took place in the hall, and I don’t keep her phone number. We contact each other through friendster only.. Huhu..

Guess, I will post the gift to her husband’s house – got address on the card.. hmmmm..

Water Theme Park In Johor Bahru

Well, if you are living in KL or surrounding area, you wouldn’t have problem to find a water theme park. But in JB?
